Scholarship
Research & Writing
My work bridges psychoanalysis, clinical practice, and public scholarship. I am committed to advancing our understanding of psychological life through both rigorous academic research and writing for a wider audience.
Academic Publications
I have authored numerous scholarly articles on a range of topics, including eating disorders, freedom and agency, masculinity, and other topics. You can explore my full list of academic publications on ResearchGate.
In addition, I have served as a guest editor for a special issue of The Journal of Infant, Child, and Adolescent Psychotherapy and a special issue of Psychoanalytic Inquiry, curating contributions that expand the dialogue on psychoanalytic approaches to the treatment of eating disorders as well as mental health policy and practice.
Public Writing
My public essays have been featured in outlets such as Aeon and Psyche.
I also write The Forgotten Gender, a blog for Psychology Today, which focuses on men's struggles with food, weight, and body shape.
Books
I am the author of several books on eating disorders as well as a novel about the process of psychotherapy.
- Eating Disorders: A Contemporary Introduction
- Understanding Anorexia Nervosa in Males: An Integrative Approach
- Psychoanalytic Treatment of Eating Disorders: When Words Fail and Bodies Speak (editor)
